Hikes Near Airlie Beach. Walk The Coral Beach Track Where The Sand Is Washed Up Coral

Updated: Jan 7

Looking for a easy walk to do around Airlie Beach? Coral Beach to the beak is a must!

The name should have given it away, but I really did not expect Coral Beach to literally have washed up coral as its sand. You won't expect the sound it makes under your shoes either, it's glassy noise as you move through truly is unique.

Coral Beach and the Beak Lookout Trail

A view of Coral Beach Near Airlie Beach

The walking trail starts at a small carpark in Shute Harbour which is about a 20 minute drive out from Airlie Beach. The start of the walk is easy to find, as it's right next to the carpark.

Head on into the walk, as you walk through rainforest which is a nice retreat from the heat.

This walk is super easy to follow, it is one path so just make your way through the greenery.

If you're a fan of birds and reptiles keep an eye out on this walk as there are plenty of opportunities to spot some creatures.

Once you reach the end of the rainforest it opens up to Coral Beach! Look through all the different shapes and sizes of the washed up coral.

Now, I bet you're going to be hot after that walk, and the blue waters are calling you in. Be careful! This terrain is impossible to walk on without hurting your feet. If you have shoes you don't mind getting wet definitely take them to be able to swim.

The Beak Lookout On Coral Beach Trail

Take your time to explore the beach, when you're ready to continue The Beak Lookout will be on the right from when you entered the beach.

We found some coconuts along the way as well that we tried to crack open to taste. I think the coconuts may have washed up from the ocean, because unfortunately they tasted like the sea!

Keep heading along the beach until you see the entry to The Beak Lookout. From there it is a short but steep walk up to the lookout. This was the hardest part of the walk but you will be rewarded with an amazing view at the top!

This short walk is perfect and one of the best walks around Airlie Beach!
